Samsung galaxy S7 Vs Samsung galaxy S7 edge

It's only fair to share...Share on FacebookShare on Google+Tweet about this on TwitterShare on LinkedIn

These two Samsung flagships are no longer new in the market but they are not just smartphones, they are phones to behold in the year 2016. Samsung added great features to further address the need of their potential users. This is a subtle production in the line of Samsung S6 and S6 edge, the improvement goes beyond the battery capacity and design of S6 edge, but other nifty features have been added for a better experience.

The Samsung galaxy S7 and S7 edge were released in March after the colorful announcement in February 2016. It is absolutely overwhelming to pick up your phone and still run smoothly after dropping accidentally in a pool of water. Both devices are dust proof and water resistant over 1.5 meters and 30 minutes. You’ve got to truly “rethink what a phone can do”.

What would have prompted this post in the first place was the Samsung #BlackFridayPromoNG – “Buy a Galaxy S7 edge or S7 and get a FREE Galaxy J1 Mini and a Galaxy Tab 3 Lite!” that ended on November 28, 2016.

However, there is more to both phones as they are rated the best Android smartphones of 2016 across numerous polls despite the Note 7 misery that befell the company. It will interest you to know that the south Korean company has begun to roll out the Android 7.0 Nougat OTA update to select device owner, which features an enhanced security pack among others.

Meanwhile, it was reported that the Samsung Galaxy S7 active smartphones have been receiving the update of about 45MB by AT&T in the US, that have so far recorded a massive sale of the device.

Let’s now review both devices head to head to further help users make a better choice.

There are no broad differences between the Samsung galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge because they have almost everything in common, however, it is noteworthy to discuss the key differences of the duo.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S7 EDGE VS S7: BUILD

Samsung Galaxy S7 is made of metal alloy with glass front and back, 7.9mm thick. It weighs 152g and it is IP68 certified. It is available in Black and Gold.

Samsung Galaxy S7 edge is also made of metal alloy with glass front and back, 7.7mm thick. It weighs 5g more than the standard S7. It has a 3D thermoformed dual curved display, IP68 certified and it is available in Black, Gold, and silver.

As stated earlier, Samsung followed the design of Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge. Many complaints were received about the slippery nature of S6 edge, so The South Korean Company seems to be quite responsive and has made the S7 edge witnessed a patent improvement in handling for better grip.

This time, the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge is actually a bigger device than S7 as it is slightly taller and wider with a mass of 157g but the regular S7 is 2mm thicker. The edges are not only alluring to feel but also paved the way for quicker access to your favorite contacts, apps, shortcuts as well as the third-party app support to give developers unending opportunity to customize their own panels of the Edge UX .

Getting well acquainted with the summary features of the Samsung Galaxy’s edge might be all you need to culminate your decision.  In essence, the curvy sides remain an apparent difference between the two devices.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S7 VS SAMSUNG GALAXY S7EDGE: DISPLAY

Samsung Galaxy S7 features a 5.1” super AMOLED screen and has a resolution of 2560 x 1440 (577 ppi) while the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge is equipped with a bigger screen of 5.5” Super AMOLED with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 (534 ppi).

The bigger screen physically differentiates these two devices and it won’t be a gibberish to say that Samsung intended a keen contest between Samsung galaxy S7 edge and iPhone 6S plus with the same 5.5 inches-screen-size. The edge is somewhat beautiful, it doesn’t make the 5.5” screen actually look so big and it’s easier to hold this time. Surely, the curvy-edged screen will attract you if you’re the big-screen fan.

Quite a number of people complained about the display when watching movies. However, some rather find the curvy-edged display more worthy. You may watch the Samsung galaxy S7 edge display in action to assist in making your choice.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S7 VS SAMSUNG GALAXY S7 EDGE: BATTERY LIFE AND CHARGING

Aside from the screen, the only spec difference between the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge is battery capacity.

This time, Samsung has come up to improve the battery better than what was offered with Samsung Galaxy S6. The S7 edge boasts a 3600 mAh battery, while the regular S7 comes with 3000 mAh battery. The higher battery in S7 edge shouldn’t be a big deal as it complements the bigger screen. However, it is not absolutely negligible as it has little effect on battery performance than Galaxy S7.

Both phones are provided with adaptive fast charging technology and both will jazz up on any PMA or Qi wireless pad. So, charging is easier and faster but the two devices come with non-removable batteries if you must know that.

From findings, the two phones can actually last for a day of moderate to heavy usage, but the Galaxy S7 edge can last a bit longer than that owing to its higher battery capacity, you can still have up to 25% -30% charge left, so the “600mAh” difference are not just figures”.
